MAC provided four specially engineered pumping plants to support the installation of 52 miles of AC242/DC300 KV PPLP-SCFF submarine cable, connecting Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

BC Hydro Vancouver Island Transmission Project

MAC engineers worked with VISCAS Corporation system engineers to help determine the requirements for the plants to support normal and contingency operations for the new undersea cable installations. Among other unique features, the plants utilized degasified cable fluid and an innovative fluid control system developed specifically for this application. The plants were transported more than 3,000 miles from the MAC facilities in New Jersey to their destination in Vancouver, British Columbia. MAC engineers and field installation personnel helped provide guidance during installation and operational commissioning.
