TPLB Series
MAC Products offers the TPLB Series of DC Load Break Disconnect Switches.  These unique switches are specifically designed and manufactured for traction power applications, with ratings of 1,000 volts DC and continuous current of 900 to 4,500 amps. Intermittent loads are permitted for short time periods up to 6,300 amps.  The TPLB series is a motor-operated, remote-controlled switch that can be manually operated if an emergency occurs.

The TPLB switch from MAC is a "load break" disconnect switch, designed to open under normal voltage and current conditions.  It is the only load break switch on the market - all other commercially available traction power switches are non-load break.  The MAC switch can be opened or closed under normal conditions without needing to open main DC circuit breakers supplying the track system.  Furthermore, it does not require time-consuming safety checks to make sure the track is de-energized or that current is not flowing.

While a circuit breaker could be used in a traction power switch application, MAC's TPLB load break switch is simpler in design, far easier to maintain and more affordable.  The TPLB series of switches are fully tested and proven.
